Swati Kapoor, founder and CEO of SWATI Couture Fusion Fashion House, was born and raised in India where as a child she loved dressing dolls and her friends in boarding school. Swati has been influenced by her grandmother who ran an institution promoting the knitting and sewing work of handicapped women for charity, and one of her aunts who invented an organic cotton line of clothing.
Living in Tanzania, Africa, and Oman, in the Middle East made her a global citizen, expanded her horizons to see a world of beauty without boundaries, appreciating differences in people from any part of the world, yet seeing their common thread.
As an undergraduate, Swati studied graphic art and design in India. She earned a masters degree in Graphics Design from the Academy of Art College, San Francisco, and worked in the high-tech industry for over six years in various critical positions including creative director of a health care Internet company managing operations in the US and Latin America. When the dot.com bubble burst, Swati realized that she could channel her artistic design ideas into fashion -- clothing that incorporates art as part of life.
Swati's collections are a celebration of the art of fabric and embroidery, bridging the art of the east and the confidence of the west, creating one world of fashion for women.
Swati resides in Milpitas, CA, USA with her husband, Shekhar Kapoor, and their four-year-old son Shaan.
